Welcome to our third informative blog about Corpus Malicious, the ultimate codex of evil for D&D 5E.
In this post, you will find about why evil cults and organisations are important, what our cults and organisations are based on, what we think while writing them are and then you can find detailed information about one of these cults, Spears of Vengeance.
Cults and Organisations
There are surely evil places in the universe. But, evil must be nurtured in some others, the seeds of evil must be planted carefully. Cults and organisations of dark forces do that. This is the reason why they are important. They are the hands of many powerful forces spreading corruption in the universe. With their agendas, they can spread their words and find followers in the realms of mortals.
These types of organisations can be witnessed everywhere and they can be used by DMs to create campaigns with a deep story. A graveyard can be the home of a necromancy cult, clerics of a knowledge temple can be corrupted from within by devils. Whatever they are, they generally must work in secret so that paladin orders of good deities can’t smite them. This was the main idea in our minds while writing the cults and organisations. A proper cult must have a strong leader, be clear on its goal and have a recruitment system. So, while you are reading, you will see their foundation histories, leaders, goals, activities, membership rules and initiation.
Spears of Vengeance
Here, we are giving you a piece of more detailed information about one of them, Spears of Vengeance. Spears of Vengeance is an organisation working for higher ranking devils, especially archdevils. They are lead by Vretiel, a fallen angel which is a playable race whose details will be given in Corpus Malicious again.
The cult hunts and captures the enemies’ of devils they made a deal with. While doing this, they use one of the most effective ways of capturing someone, they capture the soul by the special spear given to them, Spear of Vengeance.
The cult members see Vretiel as the true angel of Vengeance and they see her words as the final verdict. Devils, devil worshippers or followers of other deities who have not any problem with working with devils can be a member. The only thing they must have is a vengeance that must be taken to be a member.
